MINGORA, Pakistan (UPI) -- Taliban militants have blown up two closed girls schools in Pakistan's northwestern Swat Valley, sources say.
The schools in the Swat capital of Mingora had been closed since militants threatened them last week, Pakistan's GEO TV reported Monday. Unnamed sources told the broadcaster militants used explosives to destroy primary and secondary girls schools in the city's Bannar area.
All the district's girls schools have been closed since the threats, putting the future of more than 80,000 students and 8,000 women teachers in jeopardy, GEO TV said.
