A Prayer to St Michael for Personal Protection

St. Michael, For Personal Protection

St. Michael, the Archangel! Glorious Prince, chief and champion of the heavenly hosts; guardian of the souls of men; conqueror of the rebel angels! How beautiful art thou, in thy heaven-made armor. We love thee, dear Prince of Heaven!
We, thy happy clients, yearn to enjoy thy special protection. Obtain for us from God a share of thy sturdy courage; pray that we may have a strong and tender love for our Redeemer and, in every danger or temptation, be invincible against the enemy of our souls. O standard-bearer of our salvation! Be with us in our last moments and when our souls quit this earthly exile, carry them safely to the judgement seat of Christ, and may Our Lord and Master bid thee bear us speedily to the kingdom of eternal bliss. Teach us ever to repeat the sublime cry: “Who is like unto God?” Amen.

SAINT OF THE DAY

ST. STEPHEN OF MAR SABA
( Feast Day: March 31 )
A "do not disturb" sign helped today's saint find holiness and peace.
Stephen of Mar Saba was the nephew of St. John Damascene, who introduced the young boy to monastic life beginning at age 10. When he reached 24, Stephen served the community in a variety of ways, including guest master. After some time he asked permission to live a hermit's life. The answer from the abbot was yes and no: Stephen could follow his preferred lifestyle during the week, but on weekends he was to offer his skills as a counselor.
Stephen placed a note on the door of his cell: "Forgive me, Fathers, in the name of the Lord, but please do not disturb me except on Saturdays and Sundays." Despite his calling to prayer and quiet, Stephen displayed uncanny skills with people and was a valued spiritual guide.
His biographer and disciple wrote about Stephen: "Whatever help, spiritual or material, he was asked to give, he gave. He received and honored all with the same kindness. He possessed nothing and lacked nothing. In total poverty he possessed all things."
Stephen died in 794.

A Prayer for HUSBANDS and WIVES

Prayer for Husbands and Wives.

Lord, inspire those men and women who bear the titles “Husband” and “Wife”. Help them to look to You to themselves to one another to rediscover the fullness and mystery they once felt in their union. Let them be honest enough to ask: “Where have we been together and where are we going? Let them be brave enough to question: “How have we failed?” Let each be foolhardy enough to say: “For me, we come first”. Help them, together to reexamine their commitment in the light of Your love, willingly, openly, compassionately. One Hail Mary…
Hail, O Virgin of Guadalupe. We place under your powerful patronage the purity and integrity of the Holy Faith in Mexico and in all the American Continent, for we are certain that while you are recognized as Queen and Mother, America and Mexico and our Matrimony will be saved…
Amen.

CO PILOT DELIBERATELY CRASHED PLANE KILLING EVERYONE ON BOARD

There is so much madness going on in the world today. It has now been reported that the co pilot of the Germanwings AirBus that crashed earlier this week deliberately caused the plane to crash killing himslef and all the passengers and flight personel on board.

We must pray for the dearly departed and the families they have left behind. We must also pray for the co pilot who caused this terrible accident. May God have mercy on his soul and the souls of all the departed.

PARIS (AP/CNN) – A co-pilot, alone at the helm of a doomed Germanwings plane that crashed into the French Alps, began descent manually and “intentionally,” prosecutors said Thursday.
The official said it appeared the co-pilot wanted to “destroy the plane.” All 150 passengers and crew members were killed when the plane crashed Tuesday in a remote region in the French Alps.
Audio from the mangled voice recorder of Germanwings Flight 9525 reveals the captain was locked out of the cockpit while the co-pilot appeared to make a deliberate attempt to destroy the plane, Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said Thursday. The co-pilot was identified by Robin as Andreas Lubitz.
Prosecutors said the co-pilot was conscious until impact. Alarms sounded as banging was heard on the armored cockpit door of the Germanwings plane, operated by the budget subsidiary of Lufthansa Airlines.
The co-pilot “accelerated the descent” of the plane when he was alone in the cockpit, Robin said. That can only be done deliberately, he said.
Robin said the co-pilot was a German national and not on any terrorism list.
Officials previously said they hadn’t ruled out terrorism but that it seems unlikely. French authorities have disclosed few details about what the recording contained.
“It’s still too early to draw conclusions to what happened,” said Remi Jouty, head of the BEA, the French aviation investigative arm leading the probe. “There is going to be detailed work performed on that audio file to understand and interpret the sounds and the voices that can be heard.”
Waber Joerg, a spokesman for Lufthansa, said it’s not unusual for one pilot to be in the cockpit.
“The authorities and regulations stipulate that a pilot can be in the cockpit alone,” he said. “It is recommended that this time be kept to a minimum. We comply with all German and European aviation authorities.”
Second ‘black box’ still lost
Finding the plane’s second “black box” will also be critical to understanding the mystery of what went on inside the jet.
That box, the flight data recorder, hasn’t been found yet, but Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said Wednesday that there’s a high probability it will be.
More answers may also come in news conferences scheduled for later Thursday by the Marseille prosecutor and senior executives from Germanwings and Lufthansa.
The Germanwings media office told CNN the captain of Flight 9525 had more than 6,000 hours of flight time. He has been with Germanwings since May 2014 and had worked with Lufthansa and Condor before then.
The co-pilot has been with Germanwings since September 2013 and had completed 630 hours of flight time, the media office said. The co-pilot had trained at the Lufthansa flight training center in Bremen, Germany.
A dangerous search
Relatives and friends of the victims embarked on an emotional trip Thursday: traveling close to the mountainous spot where their loved ones perished.
Special Lufthansa flights from Germany and Spain are taking relatives and friends of the victims to southern France. The airline has offered to take them as close to the crash site as possible “within the safety parameters of the investigation,” Lufthansa said in a statement.
They are first expected to stop in the town of Le Vernet for a “moment of reverence,” Seyne-les-Alpes Mayor Francis Hermitte said.
They will then carry on to the village of Seyne-les-Alpes, which has become a staging post for the recovery operation. A further ceremony is expected there, Hermitte said.
He said he anticipated 200 to 300 people would come to the area Thursday, not just relatives of the victims but also people close to the families.
Most are not expected to stay overnight, he said. But in case they do, he said, local residents have spontaneously offered accommodations for them to stay.
While some human remains have been recovered from the crash scene, many have not. And the task is treacherous for search crews.
The plane crashed in the French Alps, where slopes are steep and the weather has been icy.
The only way workers could get to the site was to drop from helicopters. Jouty, the head of the French team leading the investigation, said they had to be together for safety.
Victims from 18 countries
The doomed flight was traveling from Barcelona, Spain, to Dusseldorf, Germany, when it crashed Tuesday.
Germanwings said the plane reached its cruising altitude of 38,000 feet, and then dropped for about eight minutes. The plane lost contact with French radar at a height of about 6,000 feet. Then it crashed.
There were 150 people from 18 countries on board.
Teams have begun the daunting task of identifying the victims’ bodies but caution that it could take time to complete.
Clues in the debris
Investigators are still trying to piece together what caused the crash.
Jouty said the debris suggests the plane hit the ground and then broke apart, instead of exploding in flight.
Radar followed the plane “virtually to the point of impact,” Jouty said.
FBI agents based in France, Germany and Spain are looking through intelligence sources and cross-referencing the passenger manifest, two senior law enforcement officials said.
So far, one official said, the search hasn’t turned up anything that “stands out” or anything linking the passengers to criminal activity.

Missing teen found alive after 10 years: Married with children in Mexico

A teen abducted 10-years-ago from Wisconsin is found alive and living in Mexico. She now has a husband and three children. The family said they never gave up hope that Connie McCallister was alive and their beliefs rang true, according to theHuffington Post on Nov. 7.
McCallister vanished in August of 2004 when she was just 16-years-old. She said she was drugged and taken to Mexico against her will by the boyfriend she was dating at the time. McCallister’s aunt, Florence Volzka spoke to the media about her niece’s ordeal.
McCallister was reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by a church missionary who saw her in Mexico. This set the wheels in motion to find the teen missing for a decade. Connie McCallister is now a married woman with three children.
She is not married to the boyfriend who abducted her, but to another man she met while in Mexico. Her aunt told the media that she’s asked for help in getting home, but she won’t come back home without her children.
When she was 16, McCallister started dating a 22-year-old man, who is wanted today on sexual assault charges in another case. This man told McCallister everything she wanted to hear, said her friend Judy Weise. The last time anyone heard from Connie is when she called her sister and said, “He won’t bring me back.”
Authorities believed long-ago that the honor student was brought to Mexico, but they were never able to get a lead on her location. This is where the story gets a little hard to understand. Connie said she managed to escape her captive years ago, but because she could not speak Spanish, she couldn’t contact her family in the U.S., which sounds a bit strange. Wouldn’t a collect phone call to home be the only thing she would have needed to do?
She got a job as a field hand to support herself and this is where she met her husband. If a U.S. court grants permission, Connie plans to return to her hometown with her husband and her three children. Connie and her husband have two children ages three and five, with her oldest child, who is seven, fathered by another man she had dated while in Mexico.
The family is ecstatic that Connie is alive and well and they can’t wait to see her again.

WE NEED TO PRAY FOR OUR TEENAGERS WHO ARE EASILY LED ASTRAY

Two teenage girls join ISIS, become pregnant, and are now begging to come home!!!

The terrorist group the Islamic State, other wise known as ISIS, have recruited members from around the world to join in their campaign of global jihad. Two of their members are two teen girls who left their family in April, but are now deeply regretting their decision.

Seventeen year old Samra Kesinovic and 15 year old Sabina Selimovic are currently living in the city of Raqqa in northern Syria, which is currently controlled by the Islamic State, the New York Post reported on Friday. Kesinovic and Selimovic left their home in Austria in April, leaving a note that read. “Don’t look for us. We will serve Allah — and we will die for him.” Fast forward nearly six months later and the teenage girls have reportedly had a change of heart.

The National Review has also points out that the girls, who are both believed to be pregnant, have contacted their parents with hopes of returning home, according to CEN. Both girls are scared, noting that too many people in the area are affiliated with ISIS, and that because of this, will be unable to leave the area. Over the last few weeks, social media accounts that were believed to belong to the girls, showed pictures of them allegedly enjoying their new life. As the Post points out, authorities in Austria are under the impression that this was a premeditated plan by ISIS to make it appear the girls were willing and enjoying being the poster girls for jihad in Syria.

Karl-Heinz Grundboeck, a spokesman for the Austrian Interior Ministry, commented on the situation and stated that once someone leaves, it's "almost impossible" to return home. ISIS now controls major parts of both Iraq and Syria and have continued their recruiting efforts in many parts of the world.

Remains of Food Network contestant Cristie Codd found in woodstove

The remains of Cristie Codd have been found inside of a suspect’s wood burning stove, investigators say. Codd, who was a finalist on season eight of the reality show “Food Network Star,” along with her husband, had both been reported missing last Sunday when friends and relatives could not find them. A contractor who did work inside of the Codd’s home in Leicester, North Carolina, was arrested earlier in the week.

Writes CNN on March 21: “A North Carolina man facing murder charges in the death of a Food Network Star contestant had human remains in his woodstove, authorities say. Robert Jason Owens, 36, is accused of killing former contestant Cristie Schoen Codd, 38, and her husband, Joseph Codd, 45. Cristie Codd was five months pregnant.”
Authorities responding to the missing person’s report broke into the Codd’s home and performed a search. Both vehicles belonging to the couple were there, as were the Codd’s two dogs. Police said it appeared that a robbery had occurred.
The following day, Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan said their office received an anonymous phone call from a person who claimed that a “suspicious” person was walking around Robert Owens’ home in Candler, approximately 14 miles away from the Codd’s home. The person was seen hauling bags to a dumpster.
“The caller identified that someone had come out and very suspiciously had left things in a dumpster,” Duncan said. “We responded and were able to locate items that we knew belonged to Cristie Schoen Codd.” A laptop, jewelry and a Glock handgun were stolen from the Codd’s home and found inside of the dumpster.
Police arrested Owens on suspicion of burglary; while he was in custody, he reportedly confessed to killing Joseph and Cristie Codd. A search warrant was obtained and investigators found human remains inside of Owens' wood stove. Those remains have tested positive as belonging to Cristie; forensics have not yet revealed whether Joseph’s remains were also found in the pot belly stove.

Adds CNN: “Owens faces various charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, murder of an unborn child and breaking and entering.”
Additional information was released and carried by USA Today: “The suspect in the deaths of a Food Network chef and her husband told authorities that he stored and destroyed the bodies of his two victims, according to search warrants released Friday… Owens admitted to investigators that he had hit Joseph Codd with a pickup truck, according to a search warrant.” Owens has not indicated how he allegedly killed Cristie Codd.

A POEM ON ST PATRICK'S DAY

The Breastplate of St. Patrick I bind this day to me for ever. By power of faith, Christ's incarnation; His baptism in the Jordan river; His death on Cross for my salvation; His bursting from the spicèd tomb; His riding up the heavenly way; His coming at the day of doom;* I bind unto myself today. I bind unto myself the power Of the great love of the cherubim; The sweet 'well done' in judgment hour, The service of the seraphim, Confessors' faith, Apostles' word, The Patriarchs' prayers, the Prophets' scrolls, All good deeds done unto the Lord, And purity of virgin souls. I bind unto myself today The virtues of the starlit heaven, The glorious sun's life-giving ray, The whiteness of the moon at even, The flashing of the lightning free, The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks, The stable earth, the deep salt sea, Around the old eternal rocks. I bind unto myself today The power of God to hold and lead, His eye to watch, His might to stay, His ear to hearken to my need. The wisdom of my God to teach, His hand to guide, His shield to ward, The word of God to give me speech, His heavenly host to be my guard. Against the demon snares of sin, The vice that gives temptation force, The natural lusts that war within, The hostile men that mar my course; Or few or many, far or nigh, In every place and in all hours, Against their fierce hostility, I bind to me these holy powers. Against all Satan's spells and wiles, Against false words of heresy, Against the knowledge that defiles, Against the heart's idolatry, Against the wizard's evil craft, Against the death wound and the burning, The choking wave and the poisoned shaft, Protect me, Christ, till Thy returning. Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me, Christ in mouth of friend and stranger. I bind unto myself the Name, The strong Name of the Trinity; By invocation of the same. The Three in One, and One in Three, Of Whom all nature hath creation, Eternal Father, Spirit, Word: Praise to the Lord of my salvation, Salvation is of Christ the Lord.

How parents create narcissistic children By Lenny Bernstein

Just about everybody has one raging narcissist to deal with, sooner or later -- on the job, in social situations or (God forbid) in the home. How did he get this way, we wonder? What was his childhood like? For what appears to be the first time, researchers have taken a stab at that question by following and surveying 565 children ages 7 through 11 and their parents -- 415 mothers and 290 fathers. The results are quite clear: Parents who "overvalue" children during this developmental stage, telling them they are superior to others and entitled to special treatment, are more likely to produce narcissistic children -- who can grow up to become narcissistic adults, unless something is done about it. "When children are seen by their parents as being more special and more entitled than other children, they may internalize the view that they are superior individuals, a view that is at the core of narcissism," the researchers wrote in a study released online Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "But when children are treated by their parents with affection and appreciation, they may internalize the view that they are valuable individuals, a view that is at the core of self-esteem." This seems to make sense intuitively, but as the authors -- Brad Bushman of Ohio State University and Eddie Brummelman, a post-doctoral researcher at Holland's University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University -- point out, this was not the prevailing explanation all along. Psychoanalytic theory suggested that narcissists were the result of parents who showed them too little warmth. [You only need a one-question test to identify a narcissist] So Bushman and Brummelman pitted social learning theory -- the idea that you learn through modeled behavior -- against the psychoanalytic argument and found that, indeed, children learn their narcissism from parents who teach them that they are more than special. The authors also wanted to determine what differentiated narcissists -- who tend to be more aggressive and even violent than other people, and are at higher risk for depression, anxiety and drug addiction -- from people with strong self-esteem. As mentioned above, parents who show their kids warmth and appreciation without promoting the idea that they are superior tend to raise children with solid self-esteem. Previous studies have looked at narcissistic adults, but in 2008, Brummelman said in an interview, reliable testing instruments became available for young children. By the age of 7 or 8, he said, children develop the ability to describe whether they are happy with themselves and are very likely to compare themselves with others. "It's an age when they may be especially sensitive to parental influence," he added. The researchers did note that they couldn't quite come out and show cause and effect. "Of course, parental overvaluation is not the sole origin of narcissism," they wrote. They added: "Like other personality traits, narcissism is moderately heritable and partly rooted in early-emerging temperamental traits. Some children, due to their temperamental traits, might be more likely than others to become narcissistic when exposed to parental overvaluation." [Five ways to raise kind children] Aside from having to deal with someone like this, why should any of us care? Well, narcissism has been on the rise among Western youth in recent decades. Bushman put his concerns nicely when my colleague Rachel Feltman interviewed him for another study last summer: "I've been studying aggression for about 30 years," he said, "and I've seen that the most harmful belief that a person can have is that they're superior to others. 'Men are better than women, my race is better than your race, my religion is superior to your religion.' When people believe they're better than other people, they act accordingly." He and Brummelman wrote in this paper: "Narcissistic individuals feel superior to others, fantasize about personal successes, and believe they deserve special treatment. When they feel humiliated, they often lash out aggressively or even violently." So can anything be done to halt this process? Brummelman said yes, both during the ages of 7 to 12, when the sentiment develops, and later. "Perhaps we can develop a way to help parents convey affection and appreciation for a child without necessarily putting a child on a pedestal, without telling the child he is better than others," he said.

AMBER ALERT SUCCESS IN TEXAS

Feb. 22, 2015 - Texas A 6-year-old girl went missing from her home in the middle of the night. The child was last seen in bed, but when the family checked on her, she was gone. A male acquaintance staying with them was also missing, along with the family’s van. An AMBER Alert was activated, including the use of cell phone messages via wireless emergency alerts with a description and license plate for the vehicle. A clerk at a gas station saw the alert and recognized the vehicle, along with a suspicious man and a girl he claimed was his daughter. This information enabled police to focus their search efforts and locate the vehicle. The child was safely recovered and the abductor was arrested.
